Calling for Creative Writing

Has anyone held onto their creative writing papers? I think it would be hilarious to see one of those posted up here--especially one of those that said what we would be doing in ten years.

Pray for me

Hey all. Just when you think you can put it in cruise control, you see a state trooper pull a U-ie behind you... According to the doctor it looks like I "might" have cancer. On Thursday, I'm being admitted to the hospital for an outpatient procedure to remove a "suspicious area." The doctor says that it will take about 7-10 days to get the pathology report back and find out exactly what we're dealing with. WHICH REALLY STINKS! (in my opinion) I LOATHE waiting. I would so appreciate your prayers. To make matters even more interesting (as if that wasn't interesting enough) someone from my past has reappeared. A guy I lived with right after graduating has started showing up at my church. Apparently he became penitent while in the state penitentiary and he found Jesus. He has been out and in the ministry for almost two years. (Sho-this is the guy that you and I argued about over the phone almost 12 years ago. You were right by the way.) He used to freebase a lot and would get physically violent with me when he was high. He's been coming around for a while, and really does seem to have changed. I (reluctantly) agreed to go out with him and had a truly wonderful time. I used to love him after all. Pray for God to make His will for me concerning him crystal clear. I'm quite jaded and confused about it all. I know this blog was supposed to be a reminiscence tool - but I was hoping ya'll might make an exception this once. That's it in a nutshell. And I know ya'll will pray, so I'm just gonna say thanks right now. Thanks! Talk to you soon - Laurie.

DJ never should have graduated

Here is the conversation that took place as I recieved my diploma:

DJ: thanks Dr. Curling, but... um... well...

Dr. Curling: Spit it out son... we dont have all night!

DJ: Well, I never finished my Chemistry Paces... I only did 2 all senior year.

Dr. Curling: Humph. It's OK DJ... honest.

DJ: But I really think I should come in over the summer and finish them.

Dr. Curling: Um, I don't think thats a good idea... in just a few minutes you and Mike Ray will be leaving here for good, and, well, that really pleases me...

DJ: But are you sure Dr. Curling?

Dr. Curling (photo above taken at this precise moment): yyyyyeeeeeessssssss...... I am sooooooo sure.

Jr/Sr Trip

This picture always makes me laugh because of the story that happened on that ride. You have to understand that these slides just end. They have no pool of water to land in. To help you stop, there is a carpet at the end of the slide so you won't fly off onto cement. Also, there is a worker at the end of the ride who is SUPPPPOSED to assist you off. Lynlee, Rachel, and I decided to try out the covered winding slide first. You were supposed to ride the slide on mats that held two people. Since there were just three of us, I went by myself on one mat while Lynlee and Rachel rode the other one. Well, that was the most boring ride in the world to me. It was soooooo slow and I did not even make it to the end of the slide. Well, the workers were trying to decide what to do with me at the end. One worker wanted to let me sit there and let Lynlee and Rachel's mat push me to the end, and another worker was like NOoooooo. While I was sitting there listening to the two workers debate, I hear Lynlee and Rachel screaming their heads off like they were having a blast. As I turned around I see that they WERE having a great ride. Their mat was going fast and going up on the sides of the slide........then it happened. The two workers were still discussing what to do with me when Lynlee's and Rachel's mat hit mine. The worker that had wanted to help my mat to the ending rug covered his eyes. Not only did it hit my mat, it came up on my mat, and not only that......It came on top of me. I had two girls on a mat on my back-then they slipped back off. However, I was pushed to the end of the ride like the first worker wanted. When we got off the ride, there were these two grunge people all in black smoking a cigarette watching the whole thing. They said, Huuuuuh, Huuuuuuh, that's hil- air-ee-us. The workers were all worried, Are you ok? Are you sure? Blah, Blah, Blah.
Too bad some party poopers missed out on such a great time!

Memories

The other night Spencer and I were watching Extreme Makeover Home Edition. They were helping the town of Port Arthur, and it brought back memories of my State Competition crush. I told Spencer that I had a crush on a guy from Port Arthur. He said, "Who did you not have a crush on?" Thanks, Spencer!

I also found a picture of "Romeo." I wonder, is he still up for grabs?

Happy Easter, Everybody.............

This is Lynlee.............and that's my Josiah last summer, and that's my Jacob a couple of Easters ago, giving me a funny look. :)I just wanted to share this quote with you, as we are giving special remembrance this weekend to Christ and His sufferings and death on the Cross, and ultimately to His resurrection!............... "Some people feel guilty about their anxieties and regard them as a defect of faith. I don't agree at all. They are afflictions, not sins. Like all afflictions, they are, if we can so take them, our share in the Passion of Christ. For the beginnnig of the Passion--the first move, so to speak--is in Gethsemane...the prayer in Gethsemane shows that the preceding anxiety is equally God's will and equally part of our human destiny...The perfect Man experienced it. And the servant is not greater than the master." ~ C.S. Lewis, Letters to Malcom

Let's Blackmail Chago!!!!

Sho here again. Always loved those school banquets! So awkward sometimes.

Interesting News

DJ here.
Sorry that I haven't posted any more old pictures... I have been away from my scanner.

I was looking around and discovered that someone already had a MCA blog that went by the same name as this blog. It seems as though the information was current with school events. (click here to see what I am talking about)
Did anyone know about this? Does anyone know if there is another MCA blog somewhere in the distant galaxies of cyber-space? I do know that there was a MCA website that was linked to from my mom's church (Harvest Baptist) but it appears that the link is gone. Anyone know if there is an official MCA website? I did a google search but to no avail...

peek-a-boo

Well, this is me with my girlz. I named my oldest angel Zoe Jeannean. Zoe is a beautiful morena with dark-brown hair, and eyes that look like hypnotizing pools of oil. My youngest is Zarina Jade-Marie. She has dirty-blond hair, and eyes as blue and inviting as the deep end of swimming pool on a hot afternoon in Texas. They're even cuter in person. Both of them are in school now. (Sorry, not MCA) Zoe is 9-1/2 and currently has a broken leg (we're suing HEB), and Zarina is a 3-1/2 year-old pistol. They look different, act different, and love different. They do both have the same tickling laugh though.

As for me, I am now a Quality Assurance Specialist for Ticketmaster. When you call into a call center, you hear a message that says, "This call may be recorded or monitored for quality assurance purposes." I coordinate the monitoring process, calibrate the evaluators, and oversee productivity. Basically, I evaluate the evaluators. It's the ideal job for a nitpicking perfectionist who has a thing for English. I oversee Hotels.com sales calls, Reserve America/Reserve USA Camping Reservation calls, and Entertainment.com Sales and Service calls. Rest of the family is good. Stacie has two boys, and handles the billing department for a medical supply company. Tim remains, Tim. He is currently looking for a job and loves to travel, so if you know of a good job, let me know. This is longer than I thought it would be and I need to go to bed now. So, I'll just end this with a picture of Stacie, Tim, and me. Until next time...

Free Concert!

FYI: if you click the picture it gets BIG! We are all from the valley and have to have simple things explained to us... hehe

I remember that guitar of Joel's... and I also remember that Davida was the Queen of 12 string! I swear that is my Gibson Epiphone that Chago is playing... I wonder if they were playing the song that Joel tried to slip that Nirvana guitar line into... bad Joel!! (anyone else remember that?)

Notice that everyone is concentrating very hard... except Revka! I think she had every note/strum/chord/finger position memorized one minute after she saw the sheet music!

Hi

This is Shoshannah here. For those of you whom I have not spoken to in a long time, I now live in Eastern North Carolina and am told that I have aquired quite a Southern accent. I don't know-I just talk. My husband, Spencer, and I have been married right at six years, and we have three sweet children. I stay at home with my kids, and my husband works for a bank called BB&T. The bank started in our town back in the late 1800's or early 1900's and employs many people in our town. It is now the 9th largest bank in the nation. Spencer reports the bank's loan information to the FDIC. That's about the easiest way to describe his job.
I have lots of pictures to put up here too. Just have to dig them out and scan them. Will do that some time later.
